Rural practice.
Large stretches of Ohio are legal deserts — counties with few or no practicing attorneys. The Foundation supports lawyers who choose to serve these rural communities.
The rural access gap
When a county has almost no lawyers, ordinary civil problems — an eviction, a custody dispute, a denied benefit — can go unaddressed simply because there is no one nearby to help. Rural practice is a frontline of the access-to-justice mission.
How the Foundation helps
- Connecting rural attorneys with pro bono, clinic, and technology resources such as the Ohio Justice Bus →.
- Supporting broadband and remote-service initiatives that reach clients where offices don't exist.
- Loan repayment assistance that makes public-interest careers viable in underserved areas.
